We received the keys to our new home! After a very stressful home buying process, it’s officially ours! And I should clarify… the process was extra stressful because we are renovating and were approved for a 203k renovation loan. There is SO much involved and it was pretty much the most complicated, time-intensive route we could’ve chosen. Regardless, we are blessed to have this option!
As far as the home search, this house was the first one we looked at after we were pre-approved and we just knew it was the one. We looked at others, but we always came back to this one. The house had the majority of our “wants” including more square footage, an excellent school district (not just buying for our “current” selves, but our future, someday family :)), a 3 car garage (we have to have a home CrossFit gym, of course), a master bathroom and closet space, and a large kitchen (we love to cook!). It sounds easy enough, but we were initially looking at homes in the downtown area, where we are currently living. We love the area but the older homes didn’t have a lot of the things we were hoping for. They have tons of vintage character which I absolutely adore, but after living in 3 different homes in Downtown, we were able to figure out what we wanted in our new home. I’m grateful we got to experience living in that area. Each home had it’s own style and personality and that area is great for the cute neighborhoods and vicinity to the Farmer’s Market and restaurants.
We then started our search just a little ways north. It is absolutely beautiful, close to the lake, still close to the downtown area, amazing school district, and just a great area in general. (And generally over our budget since it tends to be a more expensive area, but we prayed a lot and it all worked out in the end!) When we first walked into this house, we immediately fell in love with the bright open, airy space and the floor to ceiling windows that filled the room with light. We then walked into the kitchen… it was huge and had so much potential! In the end, we knew in our hearts it was meant to be ours. And Robbie said it perfectly before we made an offer…
“It just feels like home.”
