Merry Christmas Eve! We had visions of sleeping in, relaxing, and watching Christmas movies all day, but our fabricator texted us this morning asking if we’d be willing to come out to his shop to look at the countertop slab for our island. While we would’ve enjoyed some relaxation, we’ll enjoy a completed kitchen even more!
We chose a gorgeous marble stone with pretty gray and white for the island to compliment the gray quartz on our perimeter countertops. The island will be 9 ft x 50 inches (huge!) and the slab is much larger (super huge!). The remainder will be used for our master bath and the downstairs guest bath.
Since it is a natural stone, it has a unique pattern and we were able to pick the placement of where the cuts would be. You can see the wood slats, which is the template of our island. We moved it around to visualize what the pattern of the island would look like.
I think the marble will be a nice contrast to the quartz perimeter counters, which will really showcase and feature the island even more. The backsplash will be Carrara marble subway tile to tie it all in. It’s all so beautiful and I can’t wait to see it installed!
